The Nord West Drifter :

The Nord West Drifter has been designed with both safety and comfort in mind. Although it is impossible to design a unique and perfect boat for everyone, part of the design of the Nord West Drifter included the safety of young children on board. It also addresses the main complaint of guides throughout the North West - the lack of dry storage on existing boats on the market.

The fact that it needs only six inches of water with three people on board, combined with the stiffness of the hull makes it very easy to row. The normal side design has been chosen for safety reasons, in opposition to a low side profile judged to be unsafe on some rivers.

The Nord West Drifter is built using proven racing construction techniques, high tech materials and hand lay up methods - which is the only way to keep track of the thickness and maintain a weight of 325 lbs.

"The Furtif"

The Furtif :

The furtif (which means stealthy in French) has been designed and built specifically for bird hunting, and complies with the US Coast Guard safety standards - which require flotation in the event of capsizing.

The bottom's sandwich construction is part of the flotation and provides the added benefit of insulation between the cold water and passenger compartment; the remaining flotation is located on sides of the boat.

The low profile (8 inches above the water level) when loaded makes the furtif very efficient sneaking birds. The flat bottom and 35 inches width and low center of gravity give under way a high level of stability, but it is highly recommended not to use it on moving waters such as rivers.

The Furtif has three handles on the outside allowing it to be carried and also provides an additional safety feature - giving the survivor of a boat accident something to hang onto.

The boat is equipped with two reclined seat backs with head rests. A reinforced stern with two aluminum plates is furnished to clamp down a electric motor, a nice boat cover makes the hunting trip very comfortable in bad weather.

The Powder Coated Nord West Custom Trailer :

Nord West Composites also has its own custom trailer design and building department. Our tilt bed trailer has been designed to perfectly fit the Nord West Drifter. After some experimentation, we decided to replace the traditional rear roller,which was no longer necessary due to the tilt bed. The side rollers are very effective at preventing damage to the chines and sides when loading the boat into a river current. Each Nord West custom trailer comes equipped with EZ-Lube, a 1200 lbs torsion axle and 14" wheels, powder coating. Retail price: $ 1,995
